Ablution i.e. wudu is usually performed in preparation for formal prayers and before the Quran is addressed and readout.
Wudu is also translated as “partial ablution,” as opposed to ghusl (“full ablution”), washing the entire body, or tayammum (“dry ablution”), replacing water with sand or dust because of its scarcity, its harmful impact on the individual or any other purpose. Body and clothing purification is called taharah.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said ‘cleanliness is half of faith’. Wudhu is the ritual washing performed by Muslims before prayer. Muslims must be clean and wear good clothes before they present themselves before God.
Muslims start in the name of God, and begin by washing the right, and then the left hand three times.
Ablution meaning: an act of washing oneself.
What if you haven’t done Niyat before wudu?
Whether one did not do the Niyat, and fell into the river, or stood in rain, and the water went over all the pieces, the washing of which in wudu is necessary. Wudu is going to be done and he’s going to be able to claim his Namaz. But that individual won’t get wudu ‘s blessings.
Wudu steps: How to perform wudu
- Start by saying Bismillah.
- Wash your hands completely three times over to the wrists
- Rinse your mouth 3 times, swirl the water around and rinse your nose 3 times, blowing the water out using the left hand to remove the water from your nose. This Sunna’s secret is that it lets you test if the water is pure and clean enough to use it for wudu!
Make your plan to execute wudu’s fard (obligatory) actions now.
- Wash your face three times, from the hairline to the chin and from ear to ear, making sure you wash your whole face, eyebrows, under your nose and lips. A man will get his beard ‘s hair cleaned. If his beard is thin, he should make sure that water reaches the skin and he should wash the surface and run his wet fingers through it if it is thick.
- Clean your arms and hands three times, from your fingertips to your elbows. The removal of everything that may prevent water from touching the skin is necessary, i.e. flour, dirt, paint, etc.
- Wipe your hair from the front of your hair with your palms, move it to the back of your head, and then back to the front again. As for a woman’s hair, she should wipe it from the front of her head to the hair roots at her neck’s nape. She doesn’t have to brush her hair all the way clean.
- Wipe your ears by sticking your index fingers in your ears and rubbing your thumbs across the back. To use fresh water for this is preferable.
- Clean your feet up to the knees three times, making sure to rub your little finger in between your toes. Don’t leave your ankles behind.
- Finish your wudu with the dua – Ash-hadu ’an laa ’ilaaha ’illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lah, wa ’ash-hadu ’anna Muhammadan ’abduhu wa Rasooluhu.
