- The most regularly repeated surah in the Quran is Surah Al Fatiha. Muslims recite it in every Rakaah of every salah. Indeed, we say this prayer so much that it has become a habit for many of us to recite it, and we don’t even realize or notice what we are uttering. in this article, we are going to set the Benefits of Surat Al Fatiha.
The Holy Book Quran is a priceless and irreplaceable book for us Muslims. Every word of our holy Quran is of great value to every Muslim across the world. Surah Fatiha has seven verses. Yes, Surah Al Fatiha is the pillar of the prayer, and we get to recite it over 17 times every day, but how many of us understand what we are saying, how many of us take the time to stop and realize and ponder over the greatness of this Chapter. The revelation of Surah Fatiha
The revelation of Surah Fatiha upon our beloved prophet (peace be upon him) was in Makkah just before he migrated to Madinah, according to Ibn Abbas, Qatadah and Abu’l-Aliyah. It is the fifth Surah of the Quran to have revealed in chronology. The first to have revealed in its wholeness.
‘We have sent to you the Seven Often Repeated Verses.’ (Surah Al-Hijr 15:87)
History and meaning
It is a Makki Surah of our Holy Quran, which means that it came upon our beloved prophet (peace be upon him) of Allah the almighty, while He was in Mecca, before his migration to Madinah. Al-Fatiha itself means “The Opening” because this section comes right at the start of the Holy Quran and serves as a place to enter to read Quran Majeed further. Additionally, Muslims must recite this Surah at the starting of every Salah.
This is also well-known as Umm-Al Kitab, meaning Surah Fatiha is the mother of the Quran.
According to Abu Huraira, Allah’s messenger mentioned, ‘That this surah is the mother of Quran, the mother of all book and seven repeated Ayah of Quran. It is well-known as Al Hamd and As-Salah.’

How to recite Surah Al Fatiha in Prayer?
According to the belief of the mass portion of the scholars, such as- Malik, Ash-Shafi’i and Ahmad, is that it is obligatory to recite Al-Fatihah in the salah and that the prayer will be invalid without it. Many proofs establish this notion. Our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said ‘There is no prayer for the one who does not recite the Opening of the Book.’
According to Ubadah bin As-Samit, our prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stated, ‘Whoever does not recite Sûrat Al-Fâtihah in his prayer, his prayer is invalid.’ [Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.1, Hadîth No. 723]

Fatiha is the greatest chapter of the Holy Quran
When our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to one of his companions that he would teach him the greatest chapter in the Quran, he recited Surah Al Fatihah. It is well-narrated by Abu Sa`id Al-Mu’alla, that, ‘While I was praying, the Prophet called me but I did not respond to his call. Later I said, Oh Allah’s Messenger! I was praying.’ He then said, ‘Didn’t Allah say,
O you who believe! Give your reply to Allah (by obeying Him) and to His Messenger when he calls you’?’ [Quran (8.24)]
He then mentioned, ‘Shall I not teach you the most superior Surah in the Qur’an?’ He stated, ‘Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. (Surat Al-Fatiha) which consists of seven repeatedly recited Ayahs and the Magnificent Quran which was given to me.’ [Sahih Al Bukhari]
Surah Al Fatiha is the pillar of the prayer
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said that if an individual does not recite Surah Fatihah in his prayer (Salah), his prayer will become invalid immediately. (Tirmidhi)
Fatihah is the cure for the disease
A companion of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) once recited Surah Fatiha after getting bitten by a scorpion, and after seeing this Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded him and said, ‘How did you know it was a Cure [Ruqyah]?’ (Sahih al Bukhari)
Fatihah is the mother of Quran
Allah’s messenger mentioned that Surah Fatihah is the Mother of the Quran, and Mother of the Book as well as seven repeated verses of it are the great recitation. (Tirmidhi)
Surah Al Fatiha is a gift from Allah Al-mighty as a form of light
An angel asked our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the surah, to which Allah’s messenger answered that there are two lights from heaven, one is Fatiha and the other one is Baqarah. (Sahih al Bukhari)
‘Rejoice in two lights brought to you which have not been brought to any prophet before you, one is Al-Fatihah and the last verses of Al- Baqarah’.
