An exceptional and rare pair of Islamic Mamluk Revival silver and copper inlaid Quran Koran side tables, Egypt, circa late 19th century. Fully silver inlaid cairoware tables. Very decorative with Arabic calligraphy throughout. Similar ones in museums worldwide. Including the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization / Sharjah Museums Department, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (Sharjah) These tables are prime examples of Mamluk revivalist works. They copy a famous Mamluk Qur’an stand at the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo, inscribed with the name of the Mamluk Sultan al-Nasir Hasan ibn al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun (who reigned three times between 1294 and 1340), and made by Muhammad ibn Sunqur al-Baghdadi al-Sanqari. They are in impeccable condition. The legs are removable to adjust height and stability. Size: 33″ high x 18″ diameter.
